An April Stack (2024)
A vertical stacking of spring flowers reaching for the sky makes the sculptural installation the latest work of Davis’. This endless floral column is rendered in monochromatic hues of blues, purples, lavenders, magentas and teals. An assortment of around fifteen various spring flowers defines the vocabulary of this work and the language of stacking the syntax. Themes of nature and flowers have always been a constant theme in Alex’s oeuvre over the last two and a half decades of his practice. This work is a part of his ongoing sculptural exploration, ‘The Valley of Flowers’.
Sculpted in Steel and pigments, this flower stack is approximately twenty two feet tall and seven foot in diameter
